Arkansas Leadership Academy Cohort Program Application Now Open!

The Arkansas Leadership Academy (ALA) is excited to announce that applications are now open for our 2025-2026 cohort programs! We invite educators from all roles to take advantage of our free professional learning opportunities, designed to help you grow in your career and leadership potential.


Program Descriptions & Dates

Teacher Leader Program

For classroom educators seeking to enhance their leadership skills, this program also provides a pathway to the Lead Professional Designation on the DESE Career Continuum. There are two in-person cohorts and one online cohort available. Sessions are held at the APSRC Office, located in (The Victory Building in Little Rock, AR):

  • Cohort A: September 15, October 6, December 4, January 26, March 9, 10, May 6, 7 (Portfolio Writing Day)

  • Cohort B: September 16, October 7, December 5, January 27, March 11, 12, May 6, 7 (Portfolio Writing Day)

  • Cohort C (Online): September 19, October 10, December 2, January 30, February 20, March 4, May 6, 7 (Portfolio Writing Day)

Instructional Leader Program

This program, designed for educators in leadership roles such as instructional facilitators, coaches, and assistant principals, focuses on teaching, learning, assessment, and collegial support. Sessions are held at the APSRC Office (The Victory Building in Little Rock, AR):

  • Cohort A: August 26-27, October 8-9, November 12-13, January 8

  • Cohort B: September 10-11, October 28-29, January 14-15, February 10

School Team Empowerment

In this program, teams of 4-8 educators, guided by an administrator, collaborate in a “Problem of Practice” model to develop sustainable solutions for challenges facing their school or district (e.g., attendance, literacy services, behavior supports). Sessions are held at the APSRC Office, located in (The Victory Building in Little Rock, AR):

  • Session 1: September 22-23

  • Session 2: November 10-11

  • Session 3: January 12-13

  • Session 4: March 11

Executive Leader Empowerment

This program is designed for Superintendents, Deputy Superintendents, and District Directors who are looking to enhance their leadership skills in teaching, learning, finance, resource allocation, and staff support. The sessions will be held at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute, located atop Petit Jean Mountain in Morrilton, AR.

  • Session 1: September 24-25

  • Session 2: December 3-4

  • Session 3: April 1-2

Master Principal Program
For principals with at least one year of experience (preferably three or more years), this program can lead to designation as an Arkansas Master Principal and offers financial incentives. The program includes three phases:

  • Phase 1: School mission, vision, and instructional leadership

  • Phase 2: Stakeholder supports (students, staff, parents, communities)

  • Phase 3: Sustainability systems for continued improvement

  • Phase 1 Dates hosted at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute atop Petit Jean Mountain, Morrilton, AR:

    • Session 1: August 25-26

    • Session 2: October 21-23

    • Session 3: January 21-23

    • Session 4: May 12-14

  • Phase 2 Dates hosted at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute atop Petit Jean Mountain, Morrilton, AR:

    • Session 1: September 10-12

    • Session 2: November 3-5

    • Session 3: April 1-3

  • Phase 3 Dates hosted at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute atop Petit Jean Mountain, Morrilton, AR:

    • Session 1: September 17-19

    • Session 2: December 10-12

    • Session 3: April 29-May 1

How much does it cost to participate?
There is no cost for program registration, content, or support materials. However, schools and/or individual participants are generally responsible for their travel expenses, including lodging (except for Master Principal and Executive Leader participants, where applicable), and any substitute costs if necessary.
