ALA Now Accepting Applications for Executive Leader Empowerment for 2023-2024!

The Arkansas Leadership Academy is pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for Executive Leader Empowerment for the 2023-2024 school year.

Executive & Policy Leader Empowerment provides professional learning and networking experiences for superintendents, assistant superintendents, Education Cooperative directors, and charter school superintendents/CEOs.

Dates for the 2023-2024 School Year

Participants must plan to attend all sessions of Executive Leader Empowerment. Please check both personal and professional calendars to ensure availability prior to completing this application. Please verify that you will be able to participate in all sessions. Session dates are provided below:

  • September 20 and 21, 2023
  • December 5 and 6, 2023
  • April 3 and 4, 2024
  • An additional out-of-state school site visit will be scheduled for participants to see applied leadership concepts.*

    Winthrop Rockefeller Institute

    1 Rockefeller Drive

    Morrilton, Arkansas

* The location of the out-of-state school site visit will be shared as soon as possible.

Expenses:

Registration: There are no registration costs to participants for content and/or support materials.

Lodging/Meals: Schools and/or individual participants are responsible for a payment of $850.00 to APSRC/Arkansas Leadership Academy to cover the cost of participant lodging and meals during the three engagements held at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute. Note: The Winthrop Rockefeller Institute does not bill individual school districts for lodging/meals.

Out-of-State School Site Visit: Schools and/or individual participants are responsible for travel and meal expenses. The ALA will cover the cost of lodging for this visit.

Application Directions and Next Steps:

This application form must be completed in its entirety and submitted by 11:59 PM on Monday, May 8, 2023. If all spaces are not filled by May 8, 2023, the application window may remain open.

Purpose and Design

The purpose of Executive Leader Empowerment (ELE) is to provide growth opportunities for educational leaders in executive leaders in executive positions. ELE provides professional learning and sharing opportunities from both national subject matter experts and local Arkansas educators. Sessions focus on developing and nurturing a plan and process for executive leaders to impact and support a positive school culture, building principals, classroom teachers, classified staff, and instruction in the classroom.

ELE will include three, two-day onsite interactions, for a total of six days of content delivery and sharing.

Content and Focus

Participants of Executive Leader Empowerment will:

  • Develop a deeper understanding of the professional practice of an executive leader
  • Develop a better understanding of how to support and coach instructional leaders, teachers, and staff
  • Understand the importance and their role in nurturing collective efficacy in their district/school
  • Engage in leading and facilitating collaborative conversations on leadership
  • Engage in discussions on practical school leadership
  • Analyze and discuss leader and employee expectations
  • Identify their own leadership strengths and understand how those strengths impact their leadership style
  • Develop relationships and discuss education topics with state legislators and DESE staff
  • Engage with experienced Arkansas school leaders on a variety of topics
  • Gain a better understanding of how to build relationships with students, staff, board, and community
  • Develop working relationships with other executive leaders
